a poetic shift

"The torrential risk of clinging to waves 

Returns lightly, like the ash we are 

When we’ve lost all our senses

To the infernal rasp of being."

I could have chosen the sense of mist from crashing waves or undertow even but I chose to shift the elements... thus mist became ash for water and fire achieved the same dissolution of the subject of being.
