"It was not until the threshold of our time was reached that scientific inquiries perceived that their own problems and methods required an interpretation of 'primary qualities' in terms of relations, such as position, motion and temporal span [ .... ] The foregoing is intended to indicate that the different objectives of common sense and of scientific inquiry demand different subject matters and that this difference in subject-matters is not incompatible with the existence of a common pattern in both types." (John Dewey).
This commonality---which Dewey calls a "community of pattern" and is in reference to inquiry---is akin to Wittgenstein's "family resemblances" (more so than symbolic logic as such); and it could be said that Gregory Bateson was on to this as well with his logical typing and the "pattern that connects." This patterning of facts through inquiry is essentially what I set out to visually distill ( without symbolic logic yet with the proposition that I can find another related set of forms more visually approximate to fact) from a varied set of written works (such as Dante's Commedia, Mishima's Sun and Steel, William James' Varieties..., et al)---this pattern is the subject of my thesis and my "Panapsida," as well as that of my serial poem "Neuroboros". I suppose I will be accused of attempting alchemy... yet it is my claim that since the sciences aesthetics, and spirituality seem to be converging culturally anyway, I will simply say I also mean to strip away the elitism that contaminates all specialized vocabularies and thus level the "language-game" playing field such that we can finally find some satisfactory ethical solutions to political propositions.
